College Access Coaching

As a certified College Access Coach with fifteen years of experience in the field, I help students explore personal beliefs, imagine possible career paths, and embrace their academic interests. We engage in meaningful conversation, use personal writing to develop ideas, and engage in online research. Taking ownership of the process, students build balanced college lists, craft resumes, ask for recommendation letters, and ready themselves to apply.

Application Essay Guidance

As a professional writer with lifelong teaching, coaching, and editing experience, I guide students to find their most compelling topics for college application essays. Together, we develop a strategic, personalized essay writing plan which includes a professional-level exchange of drafts and feedback. Through this rigorous process, students learn to shape meaningful stories into polished essays and put their best foot forward, whether applying to undergraduate, post-bacc, professional, or graduate programs

Writing for College Readiness

Having taught freshman composition, critical thinking, high school English, and poetry workshops for all ages, I guide students to develop their imaginative capacity, observational skill, and analytical practices, as well as their attention to detail and structural choices in writing. My mission is to help create clear thinkers who can effectively generate creative works and support a nuanced written argument. This work can give students a strong foundation early in their high school career, or provide a needed boost as a senior who has been accepted to college.
